Vashon Maury Island Land Trust It is the mission of the Vashon-Maury Land Trust to conserve lands to protect the natural ecosystems and rural character of Vashon-Maury Island. Wise Energy Vashon Located a half-hour ferry ride from Seattle, many of Vashon Island’s 11,000 residents recognize the need to work as a community in order to secure a sustainable future. Climate change and rising energy costs are a concern to all of us. Presented by our energy challenges, a number of us have been meeting over the past months to look at ways we could transition to a renewable and lower energy future. Through these discussions, we have decided to proceed with a new community- based initiative, WISENERGY VASHON. Our mission is to restore, enhance, and maintain healthy native forest ecosystems, and to establish a sustainable ecological business that provides forestry services and island-grown wood products. We believe that careful, conscientious forest management can help restore old-growth character and diversity to our forests, help maintain the rural character of our island, provide local jobs and bring the community together as owners, users and stewards of our local woods.

The website will be the first integrated tourism destination for the islands and will offer islanders & visitors packages focused on artistic, agricultural, ecological and historical programs.
