Sustainable Vashon was proud to support Re-Entry ~ Life After Incarceration, a presentation by formerly incarcerated individuals-of-color who now support others in re-entry. This important presentation follows up on the screening and discussion of the documentary 13th. Speakers will offer their stories and will challenge us to look at our own community's role in disrupting the structural racism inherent in the criminal 'justice' system. The event is co-sponsored by Vashon SURJ - Showing Up for Racial Justice, the Backbone Campaign, VISD Racial Equity Team, and Sustainable Vashon. The Green Seed Grant was a unique program designed to encourage community members to design and implement small-scale projects that help carry out the mission of Sustainable Vashon - to educate, model and advocate for the economic, environmental and social sustainability of Vashon Island. These grants are intended to ignite imagination, build community, and provide models of sustainable living here on Vashon.

We offered grants, up to $500, to cover such eligible expenses as materials and facility rentals.  Grants can not be used for salaries or payments to individuals.

The Green Seed Grant program has been ended, as SV works on a new working model.

Having a big party and you don't have enough of your own dishes and you don't  want to use paper/plastic or rent from off island?
Use Sustainable Vashon's No trash Bash Stash!

Sustainable Vashon owns and loans out some presentation equipment to Island organizations that may not need to have such tools of their own.

The equipment includes a video projector and small PA system.  The projector is useful for Powerpoint presentations and videos, and the PA (Power Amplifier) is useful for audio presentations.   The equipment is loaned out to Island organizations on a first-come first-served basis.  That is, you should ask for it in advance as much as possible to be sure that it will be available.

To reserve the video projector or PA system, call Dan Schueler at (206)779-9399 or email dans at
